Truck or Treat

This afternoon Lindsey had the great idea of leaving work a few minutes early and taking Avery to see the big rigs show. At first I was a little leery of the idea — I don’t want my kid turning into a monster truck fanatic — but Avery really enjoyed seeing the local: dump truck, fire truck, cement truck, garbage truck, school bus, milk truck, cop car, street sweeper, backhoe, tow truck, and generally any kind of truck you can think of. He even got to hop in all the drivers seats and honk the horns.
Beep beep!

School bus.

The Lindsey’s and their boys.

Distracted much?

10 Years

Tonight Lindsey and I celebrated our 10 year dating anniversary. It is amazing how quickly the time passes by. 10 years is a good portion of our lives, and we’re lucky to have spent the years together. To celebrate we left Avery with a babysitter and went out. We ended up at Daniel’s Broiler in Bellevue which has a great happy hour. By chance we ran into one of Lindsey’s college roomates, who also happened to be the maid of honor in our wedding. We had a great time catching up, and she treated us to a glass of champagne.

Omelette Party 2008

Here are a few pictures from the Omelette Party, which follows the Sausage Fest. The party became a tradition before Lindsey and I were born. Every year it’s pretty much the usual suspects, give or take a few.

Vancouver Sausage Fest 2008

I’m way behind with my blogging. Earlier in the month we went down to Vancouver for the Sausage Fest. It’s a big carnival with rides, food (including sausage) and a beer garden. It was a pretty good time. Avery was too small for most of the rides, but he seemed to be enjoying himself.

Testing the weight limit of the hot air balloon ride.

I remember winning, but the photo suggests otherwise.

Seattle Waterfront

Avery hasn’t taken a nap for the past three days. He just keeps going all day with a seemingly endless supply of energy. The lack of a break in the middle of the day has made Lindsey a bit frazzled. Hopefully this pattern doesn’t continue.
He’s also been very vocal lately, and is repeating lots of words. Among his favorites:
hi! – with a big smile
aairplay (airplane)
cooow (cool)
carh (car)
bike
mommy
daddy
poo poo
pee pee
bye bye
Tonight we went for a walk along Alaskan Way. We narrowly missed going to the Aquarium, but had a quick dinner at Anthony’s Cafe. We ate outside and Avery pointed out every airplane and boat in sight.
