Pullman

At the end of August, we drove to Pullman to visit my brother and his family. We had a great time, and the kids had a blast playing together! We visited the University of Idaho Arboretum, the Moscow farmer’s market, and a nearby park. We enjoyed delicious homemade pizza and huckleberry pancakes. All in all, a great trip!

Ten Years!

We celebrated a milestone last month! Ten years as husband and wife! It’s hard to believe we’ve been married that long, but I think it’s even harder to believe we’re old enough to be married that long! Jeez, I still feel like I just graduated from college!

We spent three glorious days child free (thank you Nana and Grandpa) in Bellingham, our college town, and the place where we started out as a married couple. We gazed at the ocean, ate delicious food, visited with good friends, and toured as many of our old stomping grounds as we could. We also visited the farmer’s market, window shopped in antique stores, took a guided tour of the oldest brick building in Washington, jogged around Lake Padden, and bought basil for our garden. It flew by, and we had a terrific time. It was so nice to get some time together, just the two of us!

That’s where we met on our first night in the dorms, before classes even started, at Andre’s margarita party. I was sitting on a couch with  my girlfriends when Jonathan walked in with his roommate, and that’s how it all began!

The first house we looked at when we were looking to buy our first home. You can only sort of tell from the picture, but it’s lime green! And pretty ghetto inside. I cried and told Jonathan I’d rather just keep renting. We will forever remember this house. 🙂

I gave Jonathan a “date night” shirt for our anniversary. Turns out, it was too flaming/busy for him. We found this Buddha statue at a garden store, and it became the replacement gift.

Excelsior Camping Trip

In August, Jonathan and the boys (well, two of them anyway) went camping with a few (about fifty) friends from Bellingham. My boys love the outdoors, and they had a terrific time, no surprise there! Meanwhile Silas and I enjoyed the relative peace at home. I even had time to begin a massive kitchen cabinet project. Pictures to come once it’s complete.

Here’s Silas trying to sneak away with them. I don’t know why Jonathan didn’t want to take him too. 😉

The Rest of July

A few more pics from July:

One of our first outdoor projects at the new house was installing pavers in the back yard next to the patio. Sand kept making it’s way inside, so we wanted a place for the sandbox to live that wasn’t on the patio We were working on this together after the boys went to bed one evening, and remarking about how much fun Avery would have doing this. Then a few minutes later, he came down saying he couldn’t sleep. He thought it was so cool that we invited him out to help!

Nicole’s Visit

Our favorite niece, Nicole, spent a few weeks with Grammy and Papa over the summer. She flew back from Texas with us and stayed a week before returning home. We had such a fun time! She is such a sweetheart, and we loved having her at our house. I didn’t want to let her go!

IMG_3065

Nicole, Silas, and I went blueberry picking one morning while Avery and Kieron were at camp.

What happens when a girly-girl with three little boys has her niece over to visit? She breaks out the Barbies, the nail polish, and the old dance costumes, of course!
IMG_3069

Pedis for everybody!
IMG_3076

Avery opted for alternating black and white polish, just like Nicole. Still a mama’s boy, Kieron went with the hot pink polish his mom picked out.

And then the costumes:
