Baby King 2.0

We’ve got great news! We’re expecting our second child in early May. Lindsey presented me with the same baby shoes that appeared when she told me we were expecting Avery. We couldn’t be happier.

Franklin Falls

Today we headed for the Iron Horse trail and the Snoqualmie Tunnel for a hike. The tunnel is 2.3 miles in the dark, and was the main reason we were going. Unfortunately, we found out the tunnel was closed in January because of falling debris. They’re still waiting for funding to complete the repairs. So, we drove back across the summit and went to Franklin Falls instead. This turned out to be a great hike for a 2 year old. Avery hiked the full mile to the falls over roots, rocks, and logs. The falls themselves were crowded, and the sense of wilderness was spoiled by I-90 which hums in the background. After a ride down the trail in the backpack, Avery fell asleep within ten minutes of getting in the car.

Sausage Festival

The weekend after Labor Day, Vancouver hosts the annual Sausage Festival and Omelet Party. Avery really enjoyed the carnival rides this year. He spent the two weeks preceding chattering about “getting the tickets.” To make it even better Old Nana is visiting from New Zealand and Auntie Ashleigh came out from New York.

Gig Harbor Weekend

We spent a weekend in Gig Harbor with our good friends Lindsay, Obie, and their son Jackson. We had a relaxing time filled with boating, good food, and beautiful weather. The boys had a marvelous time playing together as usual. They even had their first sleepover (which lasted until 2 AM when Avery bailed and came to sleep with Mommy and Daddy).

First day of preschool

It’s hard to believe our little boy is already entering the world of academia. His first day of preschool went great. There were no tears when Lindsey dropped him off, and when she picked him up he said he wanted to go back. He loves his class and teachers and we already have artwork hanging on our fridge.
