October

Here’s what we were up to in October. Our big news is that Avery is headed to our alma mater, Western Washington University, next fall. We couldn’t be prouder!

We started a remodel project on our main floor in October. We’re taking out all the columns and the window wall between the dining and family rooms and relocating the corner fireplace to the exterior wall in the family room. Here’s our progress so far:

Good. helpers!

I’ve been working with a personal trainer since February. Our workout room is getting a lot of use! We just got this barbell rack/pull-up bar. It’s great!

Halloween 2024

This year for Halloween we tagged behind Layla and her girlfriends. Silas went trick-or-treating with friends on his own. Avery went to a Halloween party. And Kieron wanted to stay home by himself and study Spanish. It’s only a matter of time before Jonathan and I spend our Halloweens at home alone together again.

Layla is enjoying her second season of cheer. As one of four returners on her squad, she gets to be a captain and help lead the warmups, which she loves!

Halloween Festivities

Our friends, the Cormiers, throw an annual themed Halloween party. They go ALL OUT! This year the theme was Disney. We had a fantastic time, as usual!

Homecoming

This year marked Senior Homecoming for Avery. Homecoming is a little different at Mount Si. There is no formal dance, just a casual dance, usually a “pink out”, where everyone wears pink in honor of Breast Cancer awareness following the Friday football game. On Saturday, the kids make plans on their own with dates and/or friends and have a night on the town dressed up. Avery and his girlfriend went to Seattle with a large group. They took pictures, went on the Big Wheel and ate dinner at a fancy restaurant. Then they all headed back to our house for a party! I have to say, Avery has a great group of friends and I’m so glad they wanted to hang out at our place together.
