February

It’s been said that February is the bridge between winter and spring, and I like looking at it this way. There are crisp, sunny days that give us a glimpse of what is around the corner, but still many gloomy days. Here’s how we bridged the month.

We visited Jonathan’s office. This picture makes me wonder whether our family will have a third generation at Microsoft one day.

I volunteered at Layla’s Valentine’s party

Silas is playing another season of basketball with his team, the Gladiators

We took Everlong out and went to dinner at Ivar’s

Layla and Clare at gymnastics. They opted to wear hair pieces for team pics.

January

January is a long, dark and dreary month in the PNW. Here’s how we passed it:

Jonathan and Silas took Everlong out for a quick day trip.

The new, covered magic carpet at Central

We bought a new piano!

Nana came to visit and celebrate Christmas together

Somehow it all morphed into a fitness competition between the kids

Plank off!

Making sour dough bread together

Chess night at Boy Scouts

It snowed! (Barely.)

Current home project: built in cabinets and shelves in the office

What cleaned pennies best? Ketchup and soy sauce were the winners.

Snow day!

This guy can’t wait to try out his snowboard

Pumping iron with our oldest

Aerial yoga classes

Spa night

Avery did swim team this season. Here’s the team honoring the seniors.

December

December was a busy month as usual. We went to the tree lighting downtown the first weekend of the month.

Silas had a band performance

We took Layla to see the Nutcracker at PNB

Avery had ankle surgery on his left FHL tendon

He wasn’t a fan of having the iv in his elbow crease

Recovering and getting snuggles from Phoebe

He only needed these a day or two

Ten days later, his wisdom teeth came out (all six of them)!

Layla had a gymnastics workshop

I went to a Christmas cookie exchange

Our friends, the Smiths, visited from Singapore

Layla did an arial yoga camp with her friend, Savannah

Layla had a few friends sleepover. They did some self-care and watched the Taylor Swift Eras tour.

Silas broke his finger a few days before Christmas. He did it crab walking.

After a few days he got a splint

Baking cookies!

Nicole came early from Western. It was nice having her a couple extra days.

Christmas

We spent our first Christmas in the new house with the Avery klan. As always, we had a fun time together and enjoyed each other’s company. It’s amazing to see how big all the kids are getting!

Santa!

Love this tradition

Santa

We went back to Cougar Mountain Zoo to see Santa and his reindeer again. I think everyone had a great time, and I love that Avery continues this tradition with us. Layla had a four-page list to show Santa, and we all enjoyed seeing the animals around the zoo. Glad we got a nice day for it!

The birds were a new addition we’d never seen there before
