Avery’s sweetheart turned four this summer. We had a great time at her birthday party, and Avery and Brianna were inseparable most of the day. What cuties.

Avery’s favorite TV show these days is Jake and the Neverland Pirates. It’s a cartoon about three little kids who go on various adventures with Captain Hook and the other pirates from Peter Pan. So naturally, Avery gets fully into character, frequently sporting a red bandana (just like Jake from the show). We can’t help but think he really looks like a little gangster, especially on this particular day when we took the pics. I swear we had nothing to do with the missing shirt, saggy pants, and bling around his neck. We did eventually turn his bandana around and prompt him to give us some tough guy faces though.

The old kiddie pool finally broke, so it was time to pick up a new one. Here’s a few pics of the boys breaking in the new pool.

It’s been about a month since Avery learned to ride his two wheeler, and we are so proud of all the progress he’s made. A few weeks ago we met up with some friends at the local “bike safety rodeo.” The police and fire departments were there to help teach the youngsters all about safe riding. They had obstacle courses set up, complete with stop signs where the kids practiced checking for cars, crosswalks to walk bikes across, cones, and even some jumps.
It was only a matter of time before Avery had his first big crash, and after a couple of weeks, he got that out of his way. He now has a healthy respect for his bike and is much better at remembering to keep his feet on the pedals!

When we moved, Avery’s primary concern was that we would be further from Brianna. They met in preschool last year and continued at a new preschool together this year. The pair has grown close, and apparently even eloped one day at preschool with a mock wedding and some dancing! They are pretty stinkin’ adorable, playing house together, dress-up (usually as pirates), holding hands, and hugging goodbye. Fortunately, Snoqualmie is not that far away, so there are still frequent play dates!
