August 21st was the big day. We grabbed our special eclipse glasses and headed to the lake to watch the event. It was pretty cool experience, and really neat enjoying it from the middle of the lake! Here is our posed photograph before we headed out on the water:

If there’s one word I can use to describe our August, it’s “smokey”. Wildfires in Eastern Washington and Canada brought us a ton of smoke and haze. Many days we had to keep our windows shut, and days at the lake often looked like this. We didn’t let it stop us from having fun though!

We celebrated fourteen years of marriage on August 16th! Here are a few photos from our date night. We started out at the marina, moved on to Fairhaven, and ended up at a local brewery, Wander.
We had a couple more visits from out-of-town friends in August. John & Britney Burns, and their kids, Lola, Orion, & Freya came for an evening. We hadn’t seen them since they were only a family of four, and we had a great time catching up!
Anh & Brandon and their kids, Amaya & Tristan also came to visit. It was so fun seeing them again!
Early in August, we were downtown and decided to take the kids for a walk around campus. They had a a great time exploring red square and checking out all the cool art. We even took them inside one of the buildings, Bond Hall, to check out the classrooms.
