Four Months Old

Avery turned four months today. He sure has changed a lot since he was born. In addition to rolling over Avery is reaching out for things, babbling frequently, and he’s discovered his feet. He’s very sweet natured, flirty, and loves smiling for everyone.

Avery Rolls Over!

Avery must have known we’ve had a difficult week, because he found the perfect way to make us smile. He rolled over by himself for the very first time. In fact, now anytime we place him on his back he quickly winds up on his tummy.
What a clever little boy!

Commodus explains how to roll over in only two pictures.

My Grandpa

Today we had some very sad news from New Zealand. My Grandpa passed away this morning in his sleep. He lived an extrodinary life and had quite an influence on me growing up. We’ll miss him very much.
Here are a few of my favorite images of my Grandpa from past trips to New Zealand.

He was the International Fly and Plug Casting Champion in 1962.

One of my favorite pictures of us together in 2000.

Avery Goes Swimming

Avery had his first dip in a swimming pool today here at Grammy & Papa’s pool in Texas. It was pretty close to his nap time so he didn’t get too excited about the water. Perhaps he just thought it another form of bath time. We’ll probably try and get him in the water again when he’s more alert.

Hot Tubbing in Texas

So far we haven’t had much sun in Texas. It’s really warm outside, but without the sun it hasn’t felt like swimming weather. Avery’s been waiting for the perfect sunny day to have his first swim in a pool. Hopefully that sunny day comes before we head home on Tuesday.
In the meantime us adults have been enjoying the hot tub (babies aren’t allowed in hot tubs). Each evening we’ve been enjoying a glass of wine in the hot tub, and then at the first sign of thunder & lightening we retreat indoors.
The pool area at Grammy & Papa’s new place turned out really nice. Here are a few pics.

I love the pergola. I’ve been talking about building one in our yard.

Here’s the sleeping baby, as seen from the tub.
