Jonathan’s Miss Silvia

While I was in Hawaii, I was able to convince my wife to let me buy a fancy espresso machine. I justified it by showing the ROI created by a lesser dependecy on Starbucks visits. Here’s the math:

  • Grande Americano = $2.30
  • 5 Americanos per week * 52 weeks per year = 260 Americanos
  • Total Cost = $598 anually

Lindsey estimates her Starbucks consumption to be around $400 per year (before including the banana loaf).
Tamping my first shot.

My precious.

Molto buon!

Baby’s Gotta Phat Crib

Yesterday Lindsey and I picked up a crib for the baby. We’ve been watching the cribs on Craigslist for a few months in hopes of finding a really nice second-hand one. It paid off!

First Baby Class

Last night Lindsey and I had our first baby class, along with about fifteen other expectant couples. The class was better than I expected. We learned about the birthing process and the first couple days following.
I did find some of the other classmates to be a bit comical. We were seated behind a nerdy-looking couple who couldn’t keep their hands off each other. The guy could have been Bill Gates’ twin, and the girl was quite a bit younger. Each time he leaned in for a kiss neither Lindsey nor I could see the instructor. During introductions he announced that he already had three children and three grand-children with another mother. I guess you could say he was alumni.
Overall the class was very informative, and the instructor was great. Next time we’ll choose our seats more carefully.

Babymoon in Maui

Lindsey and I went on a babymoon to Maui last week. Nana and Grandpa King had already planned a two week trip there, and they invited us to join them for a portion of it. We spent a week with them swimming, walking, snorkling, diving, and sunbathing.
My dad got some great shots of Lindsey and I on the beach at sunset.

Lindsey’s been craving Frosted Mini Wheats throughout the pregnancy. Hopefully a Costco-sized box will meet her needs.

To take care of my own cravings I found some ultra-yummy 100% Kona coffee and a ginormous bottle of Kirkland-brand vodka. Disclaimer: Both are being saved for Christmas when we’ll have family around to help polish them off.

6-month profile. This is where all the Frosted Mini Wheats are going.

I even got my parents to pose for a couple sunset shots.

Beautiful Maui sunset.

The Glucola Martini

One of the common screening tests during pregnancy looks for gestational diabetes. The test involves drinking a bottle of glucose. One hour later they do a blood draw and determine how your body responds.
The glucose drink has a reputation for being disgustingly sweet. I thought perhaps if the glucola were disguised as an orange martini, Lindsey might enjoy the experience a little more.

Bottoms up!

Blah!

Getting tipsy!
