I’m getting behind on blogging already, so please excuse the brevity. There are lots of descriptions below. Here’s what we were up at the end of January and early February:

That night we bumped into local celebrity anchorman, Dan Lewis. Considering that during college, there was a period of time when I wanted to go into broadcast journalism, I was just a little bit starstruck!

Our picky eater recently added a number of new foods to his “yes” list. These include rice, quinoa, cucumber, tomatoes, and his favorite: celery (specifically, ants on a log).

The boys returned to swim lessons. Last session, Kieron and Silas ended up in a private class together!

Silas got a little swimmer’s ear. He was such a sport about the ear drops!

After lunch at the Redhook brewery, we drove home through Sammamish, swung by my old homes, and took the boys to play at my elementary playground.

I remember doing the “fun run” on this field. Twenty(ish) years later, here are our boys racing across it!

This is a typical scene after Avery comes home in the afternoon. Silas makes a b-line for Avery’s backpack, goes straight for the lunchbox, takes it to the kitchen table, unzips it, and consumes anything that’s leftover. Can’t say I really mind. It’s nice that food isn’t wasted.

Well, the Super Bowl didn’t turn out quite the way we’d hoped, but it was a good game (up until the last play) and we love our Seahawks win or lose. I’m thankful our team made it to the Super Bowl two years in a row, and have enjoyed all the spirit and the way it’s brought people in our area together. The loss also provided a great opportunity to talk to the boys about sportsmanship and loyalty, and what really matters.  ‘Cause we all know it’s not about whether you win or lose, but how you play the game!

My team! Aren’t they cute?! Side note: Poor Avery has been asking for a new jersey ever since Percy Harvin was traded (two weeks after we bought his). And apparently kids at school continue to remind him of the trade. So we’ll see, perhaps he’ll get another one before next season, but not until we research the contract expirations!

I knit the beanies for our family (and even sold a couple last week). Not bad for learning how last month!

It’s an exciting time to live in the northwest! I’m not even a fan of football, and I’ve been swept up in all the brouhaha. We had a few friends over to watch the (amazing) playoff game. Since the win, I’ve been busy knitting Seahawks hats for all the boys. We’re all looking forward to the big game (which is also the end of football season)! 😉

Yes! With this post, one of my New Year’s resolutions is achieved! For the first time in more than a year I am current on the family blog! YES! I am going to try to keep it this way!

One of the first big changes of the new year was that Silas moved into his big-boy bed. He was climbing out of his crib and doing flips in the pack-n-play, so we felt he was ready. Here he is reading with Avery.

Silas started at the farm school this month. He was sooooo excited! I’m happy to report he’s having a terrific time, is incredibly proud of himself, and Kieron is enjoying his role as big brother/mentor. (They’re in separate classes, but spend some recesses together.)

My friend, Anh, came to visit. We had a great time catching up.

Another fun and successful Christmas is in the books. My family came to spend the holiday with us. We had a great time together, as always. We took a ton of pictures, and I had a hard time culling them, so I’ll just let them tell the story!

The Avery’s arrived late Christmas Eve, so we saved some of the traditional festivities for the following day. Nicole spent the majority of the evening with the adults.

The kids all slept in the playroom. Nicole and Kieron went right to sleep, Avery and Andrew stayed up talking. We saw Silas on the webcam sitting upright looking around for a very long time before he finally laid down and went to sleep.
