Santa 2014

We visited Santa and his reindeer at the Cougar Mountain Zoo in early December. The boys were so well-behaved, and we had a great time seeing all the animals together. We bought some apple slices to feed to the reindeer on our way up to Santa’s cabin. There was no wait to get in (we never have to wait more than five minutes). Then Avery presented the list to Santa, shared what he and his brothers would like for Christmas, and we got this cute picture. I love that it’s become a tradition to go to this small local zoo each December!

Thanksgiving in Pullman

We travelled over the mountains to spend Thanksgiving with the Avery’s of Pullman. We had a great time, and enjoyed catching up and spending time together. The kids had a blast. It’s always fun to see them play together, they have so much fun! I love that despite all the years between my brother and I, our kids are close in age, and little buddies.

Sausage Festival & Omelette Party 2014

We always try to make it down to Vancouver for the weekend of the annual Sausage Festival. Jonathan and his family have been going since they moved to the town circa 1990. This year was to be the last one, so we just had to make it. Auntie Ashleigh even flew up from Oakland – it’s that important. We had a terrific time, saw lots of old friends, and lamented about the fact that this would be the Last Sausage Festival. Well, there was a happy ending, because the week following, the festival was somehow saved. Hooray!

The Vortex. I was surprised Kieron wanted to try it, and I know he really regretted it once the ride took off.

Wedding

We were invited to a wedding in Vancouver at the end of August. The bride grew up next door to Jonathan, and their parents have been close friends for years.  The wedding was at her parents house, and was just beautiful! It was so fun to see our friends in Vancouver and dance the night away with them. Congrats to Lauren and Andrew. You make a beautiful couple!

Silas Goes Camping!

Poor little Silas has watched his brothers go camping without him since he was born. The last time they went, he wailed and tried to force his way into the car to go along. We decided that before summer was over, Silas would get his day. So the last week before school started, Jonathan took Silas and Kieron camping nearby. As you will see in the pics, he was all smiles, a very happy camper indeed! Kieron enjoyed his role as the experienced big brother on the excursion.

Avery stayed home with me, and we had a lovely date night together. We took a long walk to dinner at the local Mexican restaurant, hung out at the library, had a sleepover, and watched The Empire Strikes Back.

Our biggest concern was whether Silas would actually go to sleep in the tent, but he did just fine.
