Sayulita

In February, we flew to Mexico to celebrate our friends, Ron and Shawna’s, wedding. We spent four nights in town together, getting to know the other guests, eating delicious food, and cruising around town.  The ceremony was beautiful, laid back, and down-to-earth, with about 30 friends and family present. We had a fantastic time, and couldn’t be happier for Ron and Shawna.

We met Ron back in 2002 when we were planning our own wedding and vetting photographers. When we chose him, we had no idea it would be the start of a long friendship. The following summer, Jonathan second-shot with him at weddings to build a portfolio to start our own wedding photography business. Not too long after that, Ron started BlackRapid, an innovative camera strap company, and Jonathan has helped with the IT side of things over the years.

It was great to get away, but we really missed our boys while we were gone. And we kept seeing such cool things that we thought they would appreciate. Here are a few pictures we took just for them:

Up at Ron and Shawna’s villa. It was so neat! There was lots of ornate, antique furniture, and eye-catching details. Here’s Jonathan on a swing in the living room.  There was also a treehouse suite up at the very top.

Hawaii

Ah Hawaii. The last time we went, I was pregnant with Silas, and this year we decided it was time to go back. We spent the first three days on our own in Wailea, and had a terrific time. We played in the pool and at the beach, and ate delicious seafood. It was nice!

Santa 2014

We visited Santa and his reindeer at the Cougar Mountain Zoo in early December. The boys were so well-behaved, and we had a great time seeing all the animals together. We bought some apple slices to feed to the reindeer on our way up to Santa’s cabin. There was no wait to get in (we never have to wait more than five minutes). Then Avery presented the list to Santa, shared what he and his brothers would like for Christmas, and we got this cute picture. I love that it’s become a tradition to go to this small local zoo each December!

Thanksgiving in Pullman

We travelled over the mountains to spend Thanksgiving with the Avery’s of Pullman. We had a great time, and enjoyed catching up and spending time together. The kids had a blast. It’s always fun to see them play together, they have so much fun! I love that despite all the years between my brother and I, our kids are close in age, and little buddies.

Sausage Festival & Omelette Party 2014

We always try to make it down to Vancouver for the weekend of the annual Sausage Festival. Jonathan and his family have been going since they moved to the town circa 1990. This year was to be the last one, so we just had to make it. Auntie Ashleigh even flew up from Oakland – it’s that important. We had a terrific time, saw lots of old friends, and lamented about the fact that this would be the Last Sausage Festival. Well, there was a happy ending, because the week following, the festival was somehow saved. Hooray!
