Late February

This was a fun day. We’d originally planned on going to the zoo, but it was too rainy out. So we decided to visit the Fremont Troll with the boys, who had never seen it before. Then we ate burgers at Red Mill and headed to the Pacific Science Center. We stayed there for a long time, and decided we weren’t going to go home until it was time to put the boys in bed. So once we got hungry again, we walked to McMenamins for dinner. We finally returned home with three tired boys who happily went to bed!

I love days like this, where we throw caution to the wind, decide it’s okay to let Silas skip a nap every once in a while, and go where the day takes us!

Hey boys, do you want to see a troll under a bridge?

Visiting Nana

In January we spent a weekend with Nana. We had a great time, and the weather cooperated, so we got to play outside a lot. The boys were enthusiastic to help in the yard. A big pile of firewood was delivered, and they showed off their strength and endurance, stacking firewood for a good hour. On Sunday we watched the Seahawks beat the 49ers and enjoyed a gourmet taco feast by Mark.

The boys had a blast helping stack a big pile of firewood.

Each boy got a ride on the mower.  Kieron was delighted that his middle name, Scott, was on the front of it.

Visiting Santa and his Reindeer

We visited Santa at the Cougar Mountain Zoo again this year. I love our tradition of making an afternoon of our Santa visit and visiting the reindeer and other zoo animals.

We arrived in the morning, right when they opened, and got to see the tiger’s “Christmas Party.” I wish we had some pictures of it. The tigers got a couple of Christmas trees stuffed with meat, and some wrapped presents with treats inside, which they ripped to shreds. Afterwards, we rushed to see Santa. When we got there, no one else was in line yet, so he spent some extra time going over Christmas lists with the boys.

Thanksgiving in Pullman

We travelled over the pass to celebrate Thanksgiving at Uncle Scott & Aunt Manivanh’s this year. The boys were overjoyed spend see their cousins, and a great time was had by all!

Nicole, Andrew, and Avery participated in a volleyball workshop on Wednesday night. After that, we had pizza and stayed for the game. Here’s Silas with Daddy a few minutes before he decided it was time for he and Mommy to retire for the night.

It was freezing outside, but that didn’t keep us from the park.

Boy Outings

The boys had a couple of guys only excursions this month. Jonathan took the boys to Woodland Park Zoo. They got out of the house shortly before lunchtime, so he even packed sandwiches to bring along. I thought this was an impressive touch!

Jonathan said this otter swam right up to Silas, but he was too busy looking at his feet to notice.

They also went hiking together. Silas loved getting out of the backpack and hiking with his big brothers!
