Joe & Ashlee Visit

Our friends, Joe & Ashlee, drove up from Vancouver to visit in September. Jonathan & Joe have been friends since they were Avery’s age. We took them to a few of the local breweries and some of our favorite restaurants in Bellingham.

  • Beer tasting at Wander
  • We decided we HAD to have a Wander whiskey barrel. Joe & Ashlee were kind enough to help us cram it in the back of the Subaru.
  • Burgers & more beer at Fiamma Burger
  • Finally some pool at The Royal
  • At Boundary
  • The kids were so well behaved at Boundary
  • Twins at Waypoint Park

Boys Camping Trip

At the beginning of September we realized school had already started and the boys hadn’t been on a camping excursion together all summer yet. We quickly looked at our calendar and the weather report and arranged a trip before it started getting cool out. They went to Hannegan Pass and had an amazing time together! I’ll let the pictures speak for themselves.

Layla’s First Day of Preschool

And just like that it’s time for Layla to start preschool. (Well, technically it’s called playgroup, and is only for two hours, twice a week.) She started in Mrs. Beth’s class at the end of August and has three friends, Addi, Knox, and Kampbell, in class with her. She loves it!

Neighborhood BBQ

At the end of summer our neighborhood got together for a shindig on the beach. We had a potluck BBQ, relay race, games, and lots of good company. Here’s the view looking back at the beach from the water:

Ianthe and I lost the peddleboat leg by a mile! I think we had too much weight in the back!

This was a cool team-building exercise! Two long boards of wood that the group had to “walk” with all in unison
