Blueberry Picking

On Sunday we went to a u-pick blueberry farm in North Bend. It had to be one of the funnest outings we’ve ever had with Avery. We gave Avery a bucket and showed him where the blueberries were. He started plucking them off and eating them, and then he’d put a few in the bucket, and then he’d eat the ones in the bucket. I don’t think his bucket ever had more than a few berries in it at a time. Luckily Mommy and I made up for Avery’s snacking and we managed to collect about three pounds. I think we might go back next weekend for more.

Mariners Game

Having a two year old is pretty darn fun. Lindsey and I both think it’s our favorite age so far. Avery talks to us all the time, and for the most part he’s a good little boy. It’s also full of lots of new experiences for him, and it’s really neat to watch him learn all about the world around him.
When we brush his teeth at night we let Avery watch a video on YouTube. He really likes watching Bernard the polar bear, and in particular likes the baseball episode.
Anyway, the other day some friends of ours invited us to a Mariners game. It was Avery’s first experience with baseball aside from the polar bear video. Initially he had the impression he and his friend, Jackson, were going to play in the game, but soon he sorted everything out. It was fun to watch Avery take in the experience of being in a massive stadium watching little players down on the field running around.

July 4th in Neskowin

We went to the beach with my parents for the 4th. The traffic getting there and back was terrible, but the time we spent there was really nice. They had a parade in the morning. Avery though the fire trucks were great! They have a huge fireworks display on the beach, but this year it was so foggy you couldn’t really see much. The noise was a little loud for Avery who kept saying “fireworks go boom.” We did some kite flying on Sunday before driving home.

Woodland Park Zoo

We made a trip to the Woodland Park Zoo on a recent Sunday afternoon. We had a really good time. The zoo wasn’t too crowded and Avery is really into animals at the moment. The penguins were his favorite, along with the bears and mommy + baby gorilla. Afterwords we stopped by Red Mill for some delicious lunch.

Maple Valley Days

We had a great time at Maple Valley Days. It was the first year we’ve gone. It’s kind of a community carnival event that happens each summer.
This was Avery’s first time on carnival rides. He loved the airplanes!
