Still No Baby!

Yesterday was the due date, but despite all the spicy food, long walks, and any other old wives tales that have been deemed safe, our baby still hasn’t made any efforts to come meet his family. Baby, just in case you were wondering, your mom and I finished up the nursery last night so if you were holding off until it was ready….consider it done. In a few minutes we’re off to the doctor’s office for a progress report.
One of Lindsey’s close friends, Jennifer, painted the letters. Last night we put them up and they look great!

The airplanes took flight on Sunday evening.

T-Minus 2 Days

It’s Saturday morning and our son is due on Monday. Sometime in the very near future we’re going to become parents and life will forever change. Lindsey and I are both anxious to meet our little boy and see what parenthood is all about.
Last night we watched Look Who’s Talking and ate some spicy Chinese food for dinner. We also bought an enormous amount of ice cream at the grocery store because both Lindsey and I are craving it at the moment.
On Wednesday Lindsey’s Mom arrived from Texas. She’s been helping Lindsey with last minute preparations. The ladies have been going for walks each day around the neighborhood. They also got pedicures together because “pretty feet matter and pampering feels great.”
Lindsey’s baby bump doubles as a convenient Americano tray while she catches up on some last minute reading.

Weekend Wrap-Up

We had a busy weekend.
On Friday my Dad turned 60 so we took him out to dinner at Mama Passarelli’s in Black Diamond. Mama’s has delicious food and a great atmosphere. The owner told us to come back after the baby’s born and she’ll take him while we eat dinner. We may end up eating at Mama’s every night.
On Saturday Lindsey attended a baby shower for a neighbor, so I took my parents to Ballard to wander around. We visisted a few shops, had afternoon tea at Cupcake Royale, and then stopped by the Ballard Locks.
On Saturday evening we drove back up to Seattle and met my sister and her friend for a late dinner.
Then on Sunday we drove to Seattle once more to have coffee with my sister and visit REI.
Mmm, yummy!

Latte art.

Parents at the locks.

Wandering the streets.

The Baby & The Odyssey

Lindsey’s first car when she got her drivers license was an old silver Plymouth Voyager (with fancy wood paneling). Ever since I’ve known her she’s sworn to never get behind the wheel of a minivan again. Ha!
Today Lindsey and I traded in our cute, yellow, two-door VW Beetle for a family-friendly Honda Odyssey. While it was a little sad saying goodbye to the car that symbolized our free-spirited days as newlyweds, we’re excited about the adventures to come in our family car.

The Cuddling Pug

Commodus continues to be extra cuddly around Lindsey. Probably in some instinctual way, he understands something is up. Who knows, perhaps he’s thinking about what life will be like with a little brother.
