Homeschool

Below is some of what we’ve been up to in the first couple weeks of homeschool:

1st Day of Homeschool with Mrs. King!

This pic is from our planning meeting the Friday prior. The kids were all involved in making the schedule.

Our pantry door/command center

Language Arts

Lexia or Typing

Apparently leprechauns don’t have to social distance. Here’s the kids making traps.

Omg, they came!

And they got away! But they left candy.

Typing

Math – the old school way

Yep, this is me. I really wanted to be into Common Core, but after eight years of it, I still don’t see how it’s better than the way we learned.

Art with Mo Willems

Silas has been a huge help with Avery in his Digital Media class.

Zoom circle time. That’s Layla’s good buddy, Angelo, on the screen

She was tickled seeing all her classmates!

I needed some surprises up my sleeve to entertain Layla while I spent so much time with her brothers. She got a few Disney Princes and Princesses from an older friend.

I did some book swapping with mom friends since the library was closed.

Yoga practice

Got out the old bin of Beanie Babies for some entertainment

Mt. Si High School

The new Mount Si High School project finished just in time for the start of the school year. Jonathan, Avery, Layla and I went to the grand opening/ribbon cutting ceremony and got to tour the new campus. It is pretty amazing — three stories tall and built on stilts (it is on a relatively small parcel in a flood plane and will serve up to 2300 students). Hard to believe we’ll start our long journey as MSHS parents in less than two years! I’m so excited our kids get to go here!

Back to School 2019

This year we have a seventh grader, fourth grader, second grader, & a preschooler. Now that the kids are all older, first day of school pics are getting pretty easy, in fact, the morning was eerily smooth! Slow down, time.

End of the School Year

June means the end of the school year, and it was loaded with all kinds of parties, performances, and celebrations. I really enjoyed volunteering at Field Day at the elementary (thanks, Mom, for helping out with Layla so I could show up.) The older grades celebrated in the morning and the younger ones in the afternoon, which meant I either had to choose which child to be there with or spend the whole day there, and I was so glad to get to be there with both.

Silas and Layla both had performances which they worked very hard on. I realized I have no pictures of Avery. I guess Middle School is a little less eventful at the end of the year!

Eastlake High School 20 Year Reunion

In September we attended my 20 year reunion at the Salish Lodge. We had a great time catching up with friends, and I thought our 20 year was way more fun than the 10 year! The class of ’98 had so much fun reuniting that half of us decided to continue the party at the Snoqualmie Casino after we closed down our room at the Salish.
