Avery’s of Pullman Visit

My brother and his family came to visit at the beginning of August. We had beautiful weather, no smoke, and played on the water as much as we could!

It’s in her blood. Nicole, a natural at the helm.

The honeymoon is over for Layla and she’s tired of sailing!

We ran out of gas right after we took the sails down. We were so close to shore though, it didn’t make sense to put them back up. Out came the paddle!

Jonathan took the Avery’s for a tour of the lake on the little aluminum boat

We picked up another sailboat that weekend, a cute little Sabot for the boys to putter around in.

Another day on the Sabot. I love these pics of the kids!

Just me, my boy, and a boat

This pic just makes me laugh! Layla looks so fierce!

July

Here is the rest of what we were up to in July:

On the North Lake Whatcom Trail with Kayden & Eli

Sleepy selfie with my little girl

Ice cream on the deck

Jonathan and his team did an axe throwing team building activity while he was in Salt Lake City. He came in an impressive 2nd.

Layla tired out on a walk, so Bjorn gave her a lift

And so did I

Dr. King

They came home with their faces painted at the end of camp

At Boundary

At the Silver Beach playground

I did a little painting project in the basement

When the lake is too far… cooling off on the deck

Dance party

Layla is fearless on the playgrounds. Ladders and two-story slides don’t intimidate this girl a bit.

At Waypoint Park

Layla loves Maui & Whidbey

Showing Grammy his ants

Found these two in the workshop one afternoon. Glad they’re being safe!

At the Pride parade.

Silas checking out the old RV at Nana’s barn before both were sold

Nana took Silas to OMSI. Here’s one of the robots they saw.

Back to Waypoint Park

Microwave s’mores

Avery, the smoothie chef

Layla checking out Avery’s ants

Root beers with Henry (they thought it was so funny to turn the bottles around).

Fishing

More fishing

This girl loves corn on the cob!

Relaxin’

When she plays Duplo, she’s all about the animals!

She can go in the field now!

Lake Whatcom in July

We took so many pictures in July, and as usual, I’m getting caught up posting them. Here’s some favorite pics of our lake fun in July.

Our little fishy

There’s our house!

Silas asked Jeff & Mary for a ride in their Bullfrog. They were happy to oblige and take him for a sunset cruise. They even let him drive, which he loved!

Grammy and Papa came to visit, it was good to be sailing with them again!

The boys caught this poor fish with a net. He looked like he’d seen better days.

These two! Avery is so sweet with his little sis.

Kieron, Avery, and Eli

The Smith’s came for their summer visit from Singapore. We sure miss them!

Bjorn & Avery, friends since birth

Layla & Elina (with Kieron, the photo bomber about to attack).

We had a lake play date with a couple of my girlfriends and their kids. We even remembered to get shots of us with our kids!

Here are all the kids: Avery, Kieron, Silas, Layla, Klay, Kennedy, Kole, Kambell, Knox, & Addie.

And the moms – Amy, Jeni & me.

Hovander Park

One day I had nothing planned, and decided to take the kids to Hovander Park, in Ferndale. I’d always heard about it, but had never been before. I called my friend, Amy, who as it turned out, also had nothing going on that day, so she and her five kids met us. We spent the whole morning there and had a great time playing outside and seeing the animals.

So smart! They had three of these!

Layla loved the bunnies

And the goats

There were a number of really neat gardens to play in. This one had books and places to read spread around.

This would be so pretty when the sunflowers are blooming!

Avery in an apple tree

The Jackson 5 and the 4 Kings all squeezed together at the top of a lookout

Afterward we went to Sonic Burger. I’m pretty sure we provided a birth control PSA for the local youth who were there!

Boy Scout Camp and The 50 Miler

Warning: This post has a lot of pictures. July was packed with Boy Scout activities! There were hikes, meetings, and backpack weigh-ins, all leading up to the big 50 mile hike all the new Scouts go on their first summer in the troop. Before that, the boys went to Boy Scout camp at Camp Parsons. Here’s Avery and his buddy, Henry, in their tent.

Before heading away for the week (his first weeklong sleep-away camp).

Layla wanted a pic with Avery before he left.

Same door, different day. This is a couple weeks later, before Avery & Jonathan headed out for the big 50 miler!

Their backpacks, all ready to go

Here are a ton of pics from the hike. Looks like they had an amazing time, saw lots of natural beauty, wild animals, and made a ton of lasting memories.

Looking a little tired sipping his cocoa

Coffee for the parents

Huge frog (I guess they saw many).

Playing battleship with the logs

People were jealous of Jonathan & Avery’s Beecher’s & Summer Sausage tortillas.

Avery made this Donald Trump effigy for the fire. He got the hair right!

The boys all wanted to pose with it before burning it

They saw almost a dozen bears on their hike!

Lookin’ good!

They did it! Finished a day early, and all kids and adults were troopers. Here they are having their first meal at home – burgers, of course!

A couple days later we celebrated with a troop dinner at Luke’s house. The boys all swam and played in the lake and ate lots of food!
