Family Portraits

We did family portraits in October. It was actually our first time having official family pictures taken since our wedding nine years ago! My friend from high school, Lyndsey, is a photographer in Utah. We coordinated a shoot while she was out for a weekend visiting. After weeks of sunshine, it started raining the day she arrived. Due to the weather, we ended up switching our destination from the Snoqualmie railroad museum to the Issaquah railroad museum and squeezed photos in between rain showers. They turned out great and we’re thrilled to have a variety of cute pictures of all of us together.

The boys had a fabulous time being models for someone else besides their parents. Avery still talks about it and can hardly wait to do pictures with Lyndsey again!

The boys really wanted to wear their super hero shirts, so we told them if they were good boys for pictures, we would take some in them at the end.

Blueberries!

Just before school started, we visited Bybee Farms for our annual blueberry picking family outing. We’ve gone each summer since 2009, when Avery was the age Kieron is now. It’s fun to look at our old posts and see how the boys have grown, and how their blueberry picking has evolved.

I can’t say any of them were much help this year. Don’t get me wrong, they picked plenty of blueberries, but most went in their bellies, not their buckets! Fortunately, they kept themselves occupied long enough for Daddy and I to collect a few pounds worth before Silas said it was time to go. All in all, a fun morning!

Building, Baseball & Trains

Last month Jonathan took the boys to the Home Depot Kids Workshop one Saturday. They had a great time building little wooden boxes (perfect for sorting little lego pieces in).

The following day Jonathan and Avery went to a Mariner’s game together. It was through little league, so the kids got to get a close up view of the field. As you can see, Avery brought his little pug satchel with him, full of coins to buy a hot dog with.

The next week we went out to the local brewery for dinner one night. Afterwards, we took a stroll by the old trains across the street. The boys had a blast checking everything out.

Kieron Turns Two!

It’s hard to believe, but Kieron turned two last weekend. We surprised our little chef with a new “souped up” kitchen when he came downstairs. It didn’t disappoint, and he’s been whipping up all kinds of tasty things in it since.

Today someone described Kieron as a “little ray of sunshine,” and that truly sums up his disposition. At two years old, Kieron is cheerful, laid back, and smiles easily. He’s very physical, and a little bit of a daredevil. He can be short-fused at times, but overall, is pretty even keeled. He loves Elmo, dogs, blocks, balls, music, and all things cooking related. He is an enthusiastic, yet picky eater. Kieron loves and fears his big brother. He follows Avery everywhere, and misses him when he’s away. However, he puts up with a bit of tormenting.

His language is really taking off. It’s fun to listen to him put his thoughts into words. Some cute phrases we hear a lot are:
“Is he crying?” (referring to Silas)
“I’m making ______” (in the kitchen)
“Avery hit/bonk/hurt”
“Wee ma way/mahna mahna/got grapes” (referring to YouTube videos he wants to watch)
“Chichen” (kitchen)
“I wuv you”

He had his two year well child visit a couple days ago. He weighed in at 29 lbs 6 oz (67%) and measured 35.5″ (79%).
